what interests antoine in his practice is what the painting lacks-the empty spaces. and to find these gaps, he must create “accidents”. that’s where his process comes in. inventing an approximate printing method that transfers paint from a matrix to a canvas, antoine peels the canvas from its matrix and discovers the painting, with all of its imperfections. the works are unfinished and incomplete, deliberately leaving space and time for the viewer to participate.

but- don’t see these voids as hollows, but as links. they act as bridges between inside and outside—between what’s inside me and what’s around me. because they evoke a transitory moment, a key moment between end and rebirth, the paintings are not static, but perpetually in motion.
