carlisle burch is a visual artist based in phoenix, arizona, whose work draws on the surreal beauty of california's mojave desert. influenced by the visual language of mid-century cartoons and the harsh realities of forgotten landscapes, she explores the tensions that exist between humor and dread, pleasure and deterioration. her fluid lines and recurring characters investigate the gaps in our human perception and subtly address the illusions we construct, creating images that feel familiar, yet quietly unsettling.
